Corvette delays
In a memo to dealers, General Motors says it has "experienced significant disruption'' in its wheel supply for Corvette, possibly delaying production of certain models. The wheel supply situation has caused the company to make "several adjustments affecting wheel options, production volumes and production schedules.''
The shortage occurred after wheel supplier Amcast filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 2, 2005. As a result, Corvettes scheduled to be built after Jan. 3 will get silver painted wheels instead of polished wheels. Further, the much-anticipated chrome wheel won't be offered until late spring.
