Jan. 11--Druk Air, the national carrier of Bhutan, has introduced a new direct service between Bangkok and Gaya in a move to cash in on growing Thai tourist traffic to the Indian ancient town.
The twice-weekly scheduled service will utilise the spare capacity that resulted when the Thai carrier PB Air returned an Airbus 319 jetliner that it had been leasing from Druk Air.
PB Air in November terminated the short-term lease for the 114-seat A319 ahead of schedule after halving flight frequency on its Bangkok-Nakhon Si Thammarat route due to heavy competition from budget carrier Nok Air.
