Hewlett-Packard has raided Danish distributor BlueCom for suspected involvement in grey marketing leaving many brokers in the UK associated with the company feeling very nervous.
The investigation was the result of new measures centred on serial number tracking (SNT) introduced by HP to reduce the importation of its technology from outside the European Economic Area (EEA), which infringes its trademark agreements.
Last week the vendor said:"HP is currently investigating the BlueCom case. Due to legal reasons, we are not able to comment on the specifics of this case at this time."
According to broker sources, HP sent a "reseller pet" to buy its kit from BlueCom which had allegedly originated from Singapore. This led to a court order and a raid on the premises where products and the company's books were seized.
