Jan. 7--Although many sweet-toothed consumers are willing to switch their tastes to consume brown sugar during the time of a refined, white sugar shortage, the future cost of the more preferable white and its insufficient supply remain a concern for them.
At Tops supermarket in Central Chidlom on Thursday, two shelves were stacked with one-kilogramme packets of brown sugar and selling for 19 baht apiece.
"We don't know how much the sugar will cost in the future," said shopper Alongkorn Worawiwat.
"We have waited for white sugar for about one month."
