Jan. 6--The Finance Ministry has forecast that the Thai economy will grow on average by 5.5 percent this year, building on the momentum of last year.
Finance Minister Thanong Bidaya said that economic expansion would range between 5 percent and 6 percent and should average around 5.5 percent, given no unexpected changes in major economic factors.
To stimulate economic activity, the government plans to announce new economic measures next Wednesday. Many analysts predict that the new policies will focus on financial activity.
