Jan. 6--The mobile-phone network operator Advanced Info Service (AIS) has acknowledged that market rumours of a sell-off by the major shareholder have upset its employees and it is looking to reassure them that AIS has a good future no matter who runs it.
Late last month,, the founding Shinawatra family was rumoured to be selling off its telecommunications businesses, including AIS, to a strategic partner -- possibly Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel), China Telecom or NTT DoCoMo of Japan.
But AIS later dismissed them as baseless and untrue.
