By the looks of it, the 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser could pass for a 72:1 scale Matchbox toy. But don't be fooled: Toyota calls the cartoon-looking creation the real deal and insists the funky throwback is "the most capable 4x4 in the Toyota lineup.''
With its old-fashioned grille and signature white roof, the truck looks much the same as the concept we first glimpsed at the 2003 Detroit auto show.
Powering the FJ is the same 4.0-liter V6 as found in siblings Tacoma, Tundra and 4Runner. The 24-valve VVT-i engine turns out 239 hp at 5200 rpm and 278 lb-ft at 3700 rpm, which is more than adequate to move its 4050-pound curb weight.
