License to uglify
I question how a Solstice will look outfitted with a front license plate as required by some states, including mine. If the plate is centered below the twin honeycomb grilles, it will kill this car's looks. And the plate may not fit between the grilles and the front signal/fog lights.

Editor's note: A Pontiac spokesperson says the front-plate kit hooks into the grille honeycomb. "I'm not going to lie to you, it's ugly as hell,'' he concluded.
Swing that Mallett
Cars like the Mallett Pontiac Solstice V8 ("If I Had a Hammer,'' Dec. 19) enhance GM's image. It's great to see high-performance and style at this price in an Ameri-can car. At 500 pounds less than a Corvette, it should get better gas mileage-if you can keep your foot out of it.
