Severe liver injury with atomoxetine.(CASE REPORT)(Brief Article)

The authors of this case report utilized a computerized search of databases (Eli Lilly and Co.) to review the hepatobiliary safety of atomoxetine (Strattera) during clinical trials and in the first 2 years after its approval. Although a number of potential liver injury cases were identified, they write that only two spontaneously reported cases appeared "probably related" to atomoxetine therapy. In one case a 31-year-old woman developed acute hepatitis after taking atomoxetine 40 mg/day for 2.5 months. The other is summarized here:
