Jan. 5--The Information and Communications Technology Ministry said it will postpone the Dec 31 deadline for the registration of prepaid mobile-phone users indefinitely.

Mandatory registration was set up to prevent bombs being detonated by mobile phones in the South.

According to ICT Minister Sora-at Klinpratum, operators asked for an extension to improve databases to cope with users nationwide rather than the three insurgency-plagued provinces, he said.

He said so far more than half of the total 21.5 million pre-paid phone users have registered their SIM-card numbers.

He said co-operation would be sought from 7-Eleven convenience stores and TA ...
