Jan. 2--Fund managers are optimistic that the market outlook will be brighter in 2006 even though the Stock Exchange of Thailand was an indifferent performer in 2005 with a 6.8 percent gain following a gloomy 2004 when it lost 13.5 percent.

The better prospects, they said, would be driven by the forecast of higher economic expansion and government spending on megaprojects, estimated at 300 billion baht in 2006 under a five-year plan budgeted at 1.8 trillion baht.

Among the stocks investors should consider, they say, are those of industrial-estate companies, a sub-sector that has seen healthy demand and rising rents due to higher foreign direct ...
