Confidence In '06
Most job hunters are lukewarm about their chances in the first three months of 2006.
On a scale of 1 to 10, the majority of callers rated their confidence level at five, according to a two-day job call-in conducted in the last week of December by Challenger, Gray & Christmas. The global outplacement firm says this shows how much uncertainty about the job market remains even after 24 months of solid employment gains.
Challenger also found that pessimists edged out optimists in the survey. Twenty-seven percent of callers gave a low job search confidence rating of one to three, while just 23% rated their confidence between eight and ten.
