Jan. 3--China will increasingly be a threat to exports from other Asian countries as it continues to boost manufacturing capacity in a wide range of industries, according to Pramon Sutivong, chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce.

He says key sectors that will face increasing pressure from Chinese manufacturers include steel, electrical appliances and petrochemicals.

"China will begin to export what it used to produce only for domestic consumption. Its import demand will slow down, whereas it grew steadily over the past four to five years," Mr Pramon said.
