Jan. 3--The Treasury Department plans to diversify its operations into the production of alternative fuels, according to director-general Wisudhi Srisuphan.
He said the department, which oversees public lands nationwide, is in talks with a private power company to develop wood-based alternative fuels for a 300-megawatt plant in Nakhon Ratchasima.
Some 100,000 rai of public land in Sikhiu district and another 200,000 rai managed by the armed forces could be used as a plantation area for the programme, which follows a government policy to promote the development of alternative energy.
