Jan. 3--Business and community leaders hoping to revamp Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will take their quest to the people this week. Last month a citizen task force laid out an ambitious plan for change: Move decision-making into schools and communities. Boost academic freedom. Restructure the school board and central offices.
