Jan. 2--It may be the only club in which membership is merely a matter of timing. Joining the roster of New Year's babies Sunday was Jonathan Wembolua. Arriving at 3:10 a.m. at Carolinas Medical Center, Jonathan was the first child born in Charlotte in 2006. Weighing 8 pounds and 2 ounces, Jonathan was born on his due date, said his father, Jerry Wembolua. Wembolua and Jonathan's mother, Natacha Mupa, went to the hospital at about 8 p.m. Saturday, he said. Mupa, 24, speaks little English and was still dazed 12 hours after giving birth.
