Chief Justice Probes Claims that President Museveni Bribed Besigye's Judges.

Chief Justice Benjamin Odoki is investigating allegations by FDC leaders that two judges were bribed by President Yoweri Museveni through the Chief of Military Intelligence, Col. Leo Kyanda, to subvert the course of justice in the trials and petitions of detained party leader Kizza Besigye.

The allegations were contained in a December 24 letter to Odoki signed by Besigye's wife Winnie Byanyima and FDC Treasurer General Jack Sabiiti. Contacted for comment last evening, the Chief Justice said, "The letter was received. We cannot do an investigation in the press. When I am ready, I will let you know more. The matter is under investigation. When we get more evidence, it will be tabled before the relevant authorities."
