NEESHA THIRUMALAICHELVAM is fast rising on the national and international tennis circuit.

This is mainly due to four people who played a special role in her meteroic rise in the sport which she took up when she was nine years old.

The four are her parents - Thirumalaichelvam Subramaniam and Evelyn Ramat Braok, her mental and physical trainer Sivalingam Wandaiyar Veerappan and her sparring coach, ex-national Mohanasunder Karuppiah.

Besides them, the National Sports Council also played a role by financing part of her expenses for overseas tourneys.

The bulk of the expenditure were, however, borne by her parents. …
