Dec. 28--Students at South Charlotte Middle School made Christmas a lot happier for 40 local children this year.
The South Charlotte Middle PTA organized its second annual Angel Tree community service project, in tandem with the Salvation Army.
Each of the school's 40 homerooms "adopted" a child from a low-income family. The children's names and Christmas wish lists were part of the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program.
Students gave up their baby-sitting and allowance money to help buy gifts for the children.
