The labor movement is in decline and no one disputes this. Working class and poor people of color are at the heart of the issue--facing the worst unemployment rates and economic problems seen in decades. But as part of the fastest growing sectors in the workforce, they're also the only hope for labor's survival. Yet the AFL's dealing with race and leadership issues has always been problematic.
