BECKY QUICK, CNBC ANCHOR: Welcome back to SQUAWK BOX, I`m Becky Quick. Palm`s profit beat expectation thanks to very strong sales of its Treo smart phones. The company also gave investors an upbeat outlook for the current quarter. Now I caught up with the Palm CEO Ed Colligan and asked about his guidance for the current quarter.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
ED COLLIGAN, PRES. & CEO, PALM: I think we are seeing strong interest in our upcoming product, the Treo 700w, from both our carrier partner, Verizon (VZ), and in the marketplace. And we continue to see momentum behind our Treo sales.
QUICK: Right. I see that you just started selling the Treo in China as well, are you seeing the strongest sales here or overseas?
COLLIGAN: We are still seeing the strongest sales in the United States. We expect our international business to continue to grow and we look forward to next year as we bring out new products in both the European and Asian markets which think will meet the needs of those customers more effectively.
QUICK: How much of it do you think is coming from the fact that you have the new Treo smart phone that runs on the Windows operating system?
