Gunn Elementary School principal Evon Gutierrez, Ms. G to her students, has been in education for 38 years and could open a shop with all the cups, potpourri and candles she's hauled home at the holidays. Last December, the principal laid down a new law: As much as she appreciated them, she wanted no more gifts. Instead, she put a basket in her office and in her weekly newsletter to parents asked everyone to slip what they could inside "Ms. G's Box" and trust her to get the money to someone who truly needed it. The first year, she gave away $400 in cash -- a seven-inch stack of bills.…
