After enduring a seesaw trading session, Nasdaq stocks finished slightly lower Wednesday. The composite inched down 0.1% on lighter volume while the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 gave up 0.4%.

Cerner fell 3.34, or 3%, to 93.08 on its heaviest trade in nearly two years. It had fallen as much as 11% intraday amid a published report of aggressive accounting. In other news, the medical software maker's board approved a 2-for-1 stock split for Jan. 9, which will boost shares outstanding to about 77 million.

Apple Computer shed 2.97 to 72.01 on brisk turnover. The stock is still just 4% off Tuesday's all-time high. Bear Stearns and Banc of …
