Dec. 12--Salvador Wilcox is among a growing number of charter school proponents who believe there's more to education than what the city school district offers.

"I think it works for some people. But it's not working for some other ones," said Mr. Wilcox, chief executive officer of Education Innovations Inc. in East Liberty.

The city school board will hold a hearing at 6:30 p.m. today on the group's proposal for a charter school that would expose students to such fields as architecture, engineering and economics.

It's one of four new charter schools proposed for the city next year. If all are approved, they'll boost the district's charter-school…
