New Audi coming
Audi will unveil its R10, successor to the all-conquering R8 Le Mans racer, Dec. 13 in Paris.
Rumor has it the R10 will be powered by a diesel engine, but it is so secret that Audi is even keeping it from its drivers, according to sources. The car is expected to debut at the Sebring 12 Hour in March.
Meanwhile Audi AG's board has yet to decide whether to authorize an expanded budget for a DTM track racing program next year, and Audi Sport was consequently unable to file its entry before the registration deadline last week. Both Audi and Mercedes have been asked to field more cars than before to compensate for Opel's withdrawal from the German series.
One less team
Despite initial denials from the organization, it appears Roger Penske will shut down his No. 77 Kodak Dodge for Travis Kvapil and make Kodak a major associate sponsor on the No. 2 Miller Dodge for Kurt Busch. A Penske spokesman now says, "Penske-Jasper Racing and Kodak are working on their 2006 Nextel Cup plans, which will be announced in the near future.''
Panoz farms it out
