Report: Mets may deal Matsui

DALLAS

The New York Mets are shopping second baseman Kazuo Matsui at the winter meetings, hoping to perhaps use the money saved to land outfield star Manny Ramirez, a New York newspaper reported.

Matsui is in the final year of a three-year contract that will pay him 8 million dollars in 2006, which could make it hard to find a taker without the Mets picking up some of the tab, the New York Daily News said on its Web site.
