Dec. 7--The Industry Ministry is confident that the industrial sector will grow by 8.5 percent to 200 billion baht next year, higher than an earlier projection of 7 percent.
"Higher industrial growth is expected because the risk factors next year compared with this year are much lower," Industry Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit said yesterday.
Industrial growth this year is expected to fall to 6 percent compared with 8.4 percent in 2004 due to soaring fuel prices, bird flu and the world economic slowdown. These risk factors are expected to lessen next year.
