Dec. 7--The Thai economy beat forecasts yesterday with robust growth of 5.3 percent year-on-year in the third quarter on the back of strong exports of agricultural and industrial goods, according to the National Economic and Social Development Board.
The expansion was a marked improvement from 4.6 percent in the second quarter and 3.2 percent in the first quarter.
As a result, the NESDB yesterday revised up its growth projection for the full year to 4.7 percent from a range of 3.8 percent to 4.3 percent predicted in September. The growth forecast for the fourth quarter of this year is 5.4 percent to 5.5 percent, and 4.7 percent to 5.7 percent for all of 2006.
