Dec. 2--CAT Telecom board has scrapped its selection process of two candidates up for presidency due to a "lack of required qualifications".

Board chairman Wisut Srisuphan said that the board has asked its selection committee to find new candidates, a process to take between 45-60 days.

The two candidates who had been competing for the post were Somphol Chantraprasert, senior executive vice-president of CAT Telecom, and Mustapha Mun-nga, former Bangkok governor.

But the board decided they did not meet the required qualifications and advised the committee to select new people to vie for the top spot.
