NYSE stocks posted a strong rally Thursday, recouping earlier sessions' losses. The S&P 500 rose 1.2%. The small-cap S&P 600 surged 1.8%, and the mid-cap S&P 400 1.6% - making all-time highs.

Lamson & Sessions gapped up 4.81 to a record 28.79 on five times its usual trade. The maker of thermoplastic and engineered sewer products and electrical wiring devices said fourth-quarter results will be higher than expected because of higher prices for plastic pipe and electrical devices.

Thor Industries gained 73 cents to an all-time high of 39.05, clearing a base in a fourth straight up session on above-average trade. The maker of recreation vehicles and small- and midsize buses reported a 25% rise in fiscal first-quarter earnings to 76 cents a share on Monday, 3 cents ...
