Pediatrix Medical raises outlook
The contract provider for neonatal intensive care units forecast '06 EPS of $5.35-$5.45 ex items vs. views of $5.22. The forecast assumes a 3%-5% rise in same-unit revenue growth at its neonatal ICUs and doesn't include the effects of a $50 mil buyback announced last month. Pediatrix sees '05 EPS of $4.50-$4.60 vs. views of $4.57. Shares rose 5.5% to 89.02.
Drug distributor guides down
Amerisource Bergen, a leading provider of pharmaceutical distribution services for drugstores and hospitals, said its Q1, which ends this month, will be "below average," 74-86 cents pre-split, vs. views of 86 cents. But it reaffirmed its '06 pre-split guidance of $4-$4.30 a share, the midpoint topping views at $4.10. Shares slid 1% to 78.41.
** Invitrogen, a tech-research company, rose 2.5% to 68.16 after it won an appeals court patent-suit ruling against privately held defendant Clontech Labs. The case now goes back to the lower court, the U.S. District Court in Maryland.
