Dec. 1--Somkid Jatusripitak, the commerce minister and deputy prime minister, yesterday urged local manufacturers to maintain current product prices to help keep inflation for the year under 4.5 percent.

The consumer price index rose 6.2 percent in October, up from 6 percent in September, due to higher food and energy prices.

Dr Somkid said he was hopeful that inflation for November would be no more than 6 percent year-on-year.

He met yesterday with four leading consumer products manufacturers and 50 electrical appliance producers to discuss economic trends and the "12 Months, 12 Projects" campaign.
