NYSE stocks weakened Wednesday as the S&P 500 and NYSE composite closed at their session lows. Volume was higher.
Retailers were broadly lower.
GameStop fell 1.35 to 33.64 while dropping below its 50-day moving average. The video game chain late Tuesday posted a 33% decline in fiscal third-quarter earnings and warned that same-store sales in the fourth quarter will likely lag expectations. GameStop's sales of new video games missed targets, as customers delayed shopping until the release of Microsoft's Xbox 360. Also, customers bought more used video games -- a trend expected to remain through the holiday season.
