TDC inclined to $12 bil takeover
Denmark's No. 1 telecom operator's board is recommending that shareholders accept the bid. A private equity group including Apax Partners, Permira Advisors, Blackstone Group, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Providence Equity is offering $60 a share, 5.5% above TDC's Tues. closing price. Analysts say the price for the firm is fairly steep. Other parties, including Silver Lake Partners, are mulling bids. TDC rose 4.5% to 29.85.

Tiffany's sales miss; stock falls
The jewelry retailer's earnings rose 33% from a year ago to 16 cents a share in Q3, meeting estimates. But sales rose 8% to $500 mil, missing views by $5 mil. Earnings were also boosted by a favorable tax adjustment. Same-store sales in the U.S. rose 7%. Overseas sales rose 7%, were flat in Japan and down 1% in Europe, another disappointment. Shares fell 3.5% to 40.70.
