The introduction of pruning and picking machines by multinational tea companies in Nyamira District may soon render thousands of pickers jobless.

Local tea pickers and a civic leader yesterday asked the Government to intervene to save the workers from being declared redundant.

Speaking for the pickers, councillor Alfayo Ngeresa said that 50 employees had been sacked.
