KUALA LUMPUR, Tues. - The days of Ah Longs and licensed money lenders charging high interest rates may be numbered. The enforcement unit under the Housing and Local Government Ministry is launching a nationwide operation to bring to book violators of the Money Lenders Act 1951.

Director of Monitoring and Enforcement in the Housing and Local Government Ministry Dr G. Parameswaran said the unit had recruited more personnel and all of them would be deployed by January.
