Malaysian firms valued more on tangible assets.

THE value of companies on the Bursa Malaysia Bhd are determined more by their tangible assets rather than intangible assets.

This is a different scenario compared to the way companies around the world are valued on their stock exchanges.

A study conducted by Brand Finance, an international brand valuation and strategy firm, showed that the market value for companies on the Bursa Malaysia was only 40 per cent derived from intangible assets.

In the US, listed companies derive 78 per cent of their market value from intangible assets such as brand equity.
