With e-commerce surge, 'Cyber Monday' may be the new 'Black Friday'.

Nov. 29--Black Friday doesn't have anything on Cyber Monday.

Sales on e-commerce Web sites were expected to be the highest ever yesterday, according to Cambridge, Mass.-based Akamai Technologies Inc., a Web-services firm that measures online shopping habits.

The day after Thanksgiving, historically known as Black Friday, has long been considered one of the busiest retailing days of the year at stores and malls.

Online Friday, 17.2 million shoppers hit more than 100 retailers, about a 23-percent surge over last year, according to market research firm Nielsen/NetRatings. A study by comScore Networks reflected that jump and said …
