TAIPEI, Dec 1 Asia Pulse - A total of 20,000 foreign workers will be allowed to be imported into Taiwan next year for certain manufacturing jobs in 19 industries, a spokesman for the Cabinet-level Council of Labor Affairs (CLA) announced Thursday.
The 20,000-head quota will be allocated in two phases to help projects put forth by qualified employers in a ratio of each two foreign workers for every three domestic workers in such labor- intensive and dangerous projects, the spokesman said, adding that the 20,000 alien laborer quota will expire six years after implementation.
