Falls hopes to reopen Splash; Faire rides put on selling block. (Niagara Falls, New York; Niagara Splash Water Park; Falls Street Faire)

News came on two fronts this week concerning downtown Niagara Falls projects commonly referred to as the Niagara Venture.

* The debt-ridden Niagara Splash Water Park in downtown Niagara Falls may try to make a splash this tourist season.

* The city's NFC Development Corp. board was to vote April 14 on selling some of the rides in the closed Falls Street Faire entertainment complex.

On the water park, city officials and Niagara Falls attorney Benjamin Hewitt, the court-appointed receiver running the park, are working on a plan to open it in mid-June, a city attorney confirmed this week.
