Cooper-Standard will close NVH plant in Arkansas.(News)(Cooper-Standard Automotive Inc.)(noise, vibration and harshness control product plant)

Cooper-Standard Automotive Inc. will close its noise, vibration and harshness control product plant in El Dorado, Ark., as part of an ongoing reorganization.
Manufacturing at the factory will be phased out during the next 12 to 18 months, with production transferred to other Cooper-Standard plants. About 400 workers will be affected.
The company made the announcement on Nov. 3, a few weeks after United Steelworkers Local 634 at the company's plant in Auburn, Ind., voted to grant it wage and benefit concessions worth about $2 an hour.
"The decision was that one of the two plants had to be closed," Barry Von Lanken, Cooper-Standard manager of marketing services, told Rubber & Plastics News, a sister publication of Automotive News.
Besides the concessions, governments from both Indiana and Arkansas offered tax incentives. In addition, he said, the Auburn factory, which also employs about 400, offers an excellent location.
