Santa came early for Baltimore's Walters Art Museum when an anonymous "friend" donated $1.5 million to buy a nearby 1923 building that once housed the Home Mutual Life Insurance Co. The Walters plans to expand into the 26,600-square-foot building at 100 W. Centre St., just west of the museum's main building at Charles and Centre streets, which houses its ancient, medieval and 19th-century art collections.The new property stands in a strategic position to connect with two other buildings on Charles Street that hold the Walters' Asian, Baroque and Renaissance collections."I think it's a brilliant move on the Walters' part to acquire that building…
