Universal Music Publishing has landed 12 months of global exposure for Franz Ferdinand on MTV after securing a track from the band's new album for a forthcoming reality show.
Goal, which follows the on and off-pitch progress of 10 aspiring football players from various countries across the globe hoping to make it into their respective national squads for next year's World Cup, will use the track This Boy from the Domino album You Could Have It So Much Better as the programme theme tune.
MTV Networks label director Albert Schilcher says the track is an ideal fit for the show and one the broadcaster wanted to have from day one. "Thematically, and from a music perspective, the lyrics to This Boy are perfectly suited to the show," he says.
