Koeberg's 'bad luck' blacks out Cape Town Parliament's generator fails ahead of questions on Iraq's oil-for-food programme Cape Correspondent CAPE TOWN Koeberg nuclear power station shut down yesterday for the second time in five days following a fault on Eskom's distribution network, causing a power blackout in many parts of the Western Cape and disrupting a sitting of Parliament.

The shutdown was caused by a veld fire under one of Eskom's 400kV distribution lines about 80km north of Cape Town. The heat from the fire caused a massive drop in voltage. In response, the transmission network …
