Although it is ostensibly aimed at those who work in public libraries, the issues discussed in this book may equally be applied to other public sector offices, such as local authorities, where the demands of interoperability and the delivery of citizens' portals within the framework of e-government are high on the agenda.
In the opening section, which is about managing access, the authors outline acceptable use policies, and look at internet filtering, copyright, licensing, data protection and accessibility assistance.
Surprisingly for a book about delivering digital services in public libraries, there is relatively little detail about accessibility. A mere three pages cover keyboards and pointing devices, whilst in the chapter on website design there is barely one page on accessibility. This is insufficient to appreciate the pertinence of accessibility in delivering inclusive services.
