The Professional Contractors Group (PCG), an organisation for freelance and temporary contract workers in the UK, has joined the authoring ranks of Wikipedia, the open source encyclopaedia.

John Kell, political researcher for the PCG, has written three entries, two on British taxation law, with a decidedly pro-PCG bias.

Kell's entries tackle IR35, a tax system designed to prevent individuals using intermediary companies to avoid paying tax, and an entry on Section 660A of the Tax Bulletin 64.

These policies are key areas of concern for contractors and the PCG lobbies the government on them. Kell's job is to access government information and write advice notes on policy for members of the PCG.

"We have an online forum for PCG members and members alerted us that there were no entries for IR35 and S660A entries on Wikipedia," Kell said. "PCG is a leader on this issue so we drafted an entry."
