Sheffield University is bringing its IT and learning resources together in a [pounds sterling]16 million new building, called the Information Commons (above).
The centre is designed to complement existing IT and information resources, not replace them, and could provide a prototype that other universities may follow.
When the building is finished in early 2007, it will have seven floors, with 1,070 study spaces planned in phase-one. It is intended to be a new type of learning space with facilities for group learning.
