Gautrain unwise Not much has been said about the number of train sets for which financial provision has been made in the debate about the Gautrain's costs. Is this a deliberate silence on the part of the planners or did I miss something? Surely, with a line expected to have three focal points, Johannesburg International Airport, Johannesburg CBD and Pretoria CBD, at least three sets will run? Similar public systems in North America and Europe are heavily subsidised through the public purse many years after they start operating. Is this what South African taxpayers …
