Media practitioners yesterday started discussing a bill seeking to establish an independent council and regulator.

A one-day workshop heard that the Media Council of Kenya Bill, a creation of a Parliamentary Committee on the Administration of Justice and Legal Affairs, was an improved version of two previous bills drawn by the media council.

The bill seeks to enhance press freedom and define the role of the media council.
