The glory of dust
From the 1920s through the 1960s, track roadsters roared around dirt tracks across the country. The best drivers reached the Indy 500, which produced 19 winners from the dirt ranks, including Pat Flaherty, Jim Rathmann, Troy Ruttman and Bob Sweikert.
Through mid-January, the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum in Pomona, California, will display these influential cars. Track Roadsters: The Road to Indy will also feature a dirt-track diorama, rare photos, artifacts and film footage.

New Gator
The craftsmen at Dan Gurney's All American Racing shop have been busy creating prototypes of a second-generation Gurney Alligator motorcycle.
The 36 limited-edition first-generation "Grand Prix'' models, powered by fuel-injected Honda four-stroke engines, are sold out. The new prototype using the Alligator concept will be powered by a Harley-Davidson S&S V-twin 124-cubic-inch engine. Three different bodywork versions are being considered.
